What Trip Types are Possible with Pack Up + Go?

Whether you have been following Pack Up + Go for years or just a couple of days, you might have some questions about what kind of trips are even possible with one of our surprise packages and we’re here with answers.
The Basics:
Pack Up + Go has sent travelers to more than 300 cities across the United States, and each destination is unique!
We have sent travelers to the third-largest city in the country, Chicago, to smaller spots that are more easily accessible by cars (hi, road trippers!) like Santa Fe, NM, Memphis, TN, and everywhere in between!

Pack Up + Go Offers:
We are a Surprise Travel Brand that plans curated, personalized vacations around the US. The catch? Your destination is a surprise! Our expert Travel Planning Team will use the information you share with us on the Pre-Trip Survey to choose a destination + plan your mystery vacation.
If you have a specific destination in mind, we’d recommend a You Pick Trip, the only Trip Type where you get to choose your destination! But don’t worry, your hotel, dinner reservations, and any pre-planned activities will still be a surprise until the day you depart. All you have to do is get yourself there.
We do not currently offer trips that include cruises, all-inclusive resorts, or to Disney World. While all of those are amazing experiences in and of themselves, they do not fall under our current offerings!
What are the Trip Type Options?
Plane Trips:
If you hope to go as far as possible on your Surprise Vacation, this is your option. The travel time will be between 1 - 6 hours. If you have specific time restrictions, include that information on the Pre-Trip Survey for our Travel Planning Team. There are a couple of factors to keep in mind when thinking about your Pack Up + Go airplane trip that we detail below:

Time Zones:
Most of our surprise vacations take place within the 4 major time zones in the United States - Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. If you have any time restrictions or preferences about your destination region, please include that info on your Pre-Trip Survey or reach out to our Traveler Support Team.
Flight Types - Nonstop vs. Indirect:
Whenever possible, our Travel Team books direct flights for our travelers. Sometimes the only direct flights are at very early or very late times. When direct flights are not available, our Team makes it a priority to reduce the number and length of layovers.
What is Included?
Each Trip includes Trip planning services, round-trip tickets, accommodations, and curated recommendations, which include suggestions for restaurants, hikes, entertainment, sites, museums, etc, in your Surprise Destination. These recommendations are built on the interests you chose to tell us about on your Pre-Trip Survey. We include more recommendations than you might necessarily be needed for your Trip so that you are still able to choose your own adventure in your destination city.
The budget you choose for your trip is guaranteed to cover your travel + hotel accommodations (we book in stellar 3, 4, and 5-star spots), meaning that your selected budget may not cover additional activities. If you have extra funds left in your budget after we book travel + accommodations and take our service fee, they can go toward a gift card or tickets to an attraction that aligns with your interests, like museum admission, a comedy show, or a food tour! If you are interested in having activities included in your Trip, we recommend selecting a higher budget (remember that the minimum budget may look different for those of you flying out of smaller airports or choosing to travel on busy weekends) and including as much information about the type of activity you are interested in on your pre-trip survey.
Road Trips:
For our Road Trip option, you need to have your own car or you will need to rent a car for the journey. One important consideration for road trippers: how far are you willing to travel? We’ll try to get you somewhere great within 3-4 hours of your house, but if you’ve been to most of the hot spots within reach of your hometown, let us know that you’re willing to go a bit further.
Some of you have a car karaoke playlist that will last you for 6 hours or more, while others want to be off the road by lunchtime - tell us what works for you!
What is Included?
We will create a bespoke Road Trip from your departing location to your destination city with stops along the way that are inspired by the information you tell us on the Pre-Trip survey. We will also provide you with many recommendations for your destination city as with a Plane Trip. We guarantee that we will purchase your hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation and parking.
You Pick Trips:
The Pack Up + Go Staycation invites you to experience your local cities in a brand new way, and is the only Trip Type where you get to choose the destination!
You Pick Trips are an opportunity for you to hit those bucket list items that you haven’t gotten the chance to see yet, visit the newest restaurants that you’ve been wanting to try, and explore off-the-beaten-path activities that will help make you feel like a tourist in your own city.
What is Included?
Included in the You Pick Trips is a reservation at surprise accommodations, curated recommendations tailored to your interests, dinner reservations, valet parking at your hotel, or a ride-share gift card. In addition, you will also be guaranteed a ticket to a surprise event, attraction, or experience!
Pack Up + Go Outdoors Road Trips:
Pack Up + Go’s newest offering: Pack Up + Go Outdoors - road trips with outdoor-focused recommendations and recommendations. Pack Up + Go Outdoors trips will allow you to explore destinations near your home in the comfort of your own vehicle or from a rental car. If you’re looking for a more secluded, socially distant getaway, this is the Trip Type for you! On your Pre-Trip Survey, you can select your preferred adventure level, your outdoor interests, and anything else we need to know to plan your perfect vacation.
These Trips are perfect for those who want to travel but still maintain social distance from others. You will also be able to choose from a selection of brand-new interests on the Pre-Trip Survey exclusive to Outdoors Trips, including fishing, rock climbing, golfing, and more!
What is Included?
We will create an Outdoor Road Trip Adventure for you from your departing location to your destination, with suggested stops along the way so that you can enjoy the journey as much as the destination. We will also provide you with many curated recommendations for your destination, and we will pre-purchase your outdoor-focused accommodations (and parking if applicable).
Specifics on Hotels:
Are you the type of traveler who only uses your hotel room to shower and sleep? That’s helpful for us to know! All of the hotels we choose are highly rated, as we want to be sure that you can rely on clean, comfortable, and convenient lodging in your destination cities, so no matter your budget or where we send you, you will have a great stay!
The more information you can tell us on the Pre-Trip Survey, the better! If we know that you’re not interested in or going to use that fancy bathtub or in-room espresso machine, we might look for a hotel that leaves a bit more in your budget for outside-the-room fun! And for those of you who are looking forward to that fluffy bathrobe and memory foam mattress, we’ve got you covered.
