The Story:
“Built by hotelier Lucius Boomer, the Lenox Hotel cost $1.1 million to construct and, at 11 stories high, it was the tallest building in Boston at the time. When it was built, the Boston Post called it the Waldorf-Astoria of Boston, a reference to its owner who also owned the famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
The Lenox hotel was constructed in a Beaux Art style and features red and white terra-cotta bricks. Some of the rooms still have functioning wood-burning fireplaces and the hotel is one of few known buildings in the world with a functioning Cutler mail chute.
The hotel has had many famous guests, such as actress Judy Garland, who stayed there for a couple of months in 1965. The room she stayed in is now called the Judy Garland Suite.”

“We are at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and spent 10 days housing law enforcement in the aftermath of the bombings. Many of those people are still great friends of our hotel to this day. While a terrible tragedy it brought about some of the best relationships - with our guests, with law enforcement, with other hotels in the city and among our staff.”
