At Pack Up + Go, we love planning vacations that offer something unique, fun, and memorable – maybe in a destination you never would have thought to visit! Here are five surprising spring break destinations that our team loves.
San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio offers a unique mix of history, culture, and outdoor activities that make it a great spring break destination.
Spring is the perfect time to explore the famous River Walk, where you can enjoy boat tours, shop, or dine al fresco while the weather is warm without being too hot, or the city being too crowded. Visit the historic Alamo or head to the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
For families, the San Antonio Zoo and the nearby Natural Bridge Caverns offer plenty of outdoor fun.
Whether you’re exploring history or enjoying Tex-Mex cuisine, San Antonio offers an unforgettable spring break experience!
Chicago, Illinois
You may be thinking, “Chicago in the spring?!” Hear us out!
Spring is a great time to visit Chicago for a true local experience, and here’s why: the off-season means fewer tourists and incredible deals at hotels, plus you can score reservations or walk in seating at some of the city’s top restaurants! You’ll be able to enjoy iconic landmarks like 360 Chicago and Navy Pier without the typical crowds.
The weather in spring isn’t always the best, but you can spend time checking out the Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, or any of Chicago’s world-renowned indoor attractions.
If you get some warmer spring weather, take a boat tour along the Chicago River to see the city’s famous architecture. You may still need to pack warmer layers, but we think it’s worth it!
San Francisco, California
San Francisco’s iconic landmarks, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and Fisherman’s Wharf, make it one of the most memorable - and photogenic! - cities to visit.
Spring is the perfect time to enjoy these attractions without the summer crowds. With San Francisco’s mild year round climate, the spring months aren’t so much colder than the summer.
Explore the Presidio for gorgeous views of the bridge, or rent bikes and ride along the waterfront. Take a boat out to Alcatraz, and indulge in chocolate at Ghirardelli Square!
Nashville, Tennessee
While Nashville is known for its country music, the city offers so much more than just honky-tonk bars and bachelorette parties.
Spring break in Nashville means fewer bachelorette parties compared to summer, giving you a more relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the live music, food, and culture.
Check out the Country Music Hall of Fame, catch a show at the Grand Ole Opry, or take a stroll through Centennial Park.
If you’re a foodie, Nashville’s got no shortage of incredible options, from hot chicken, to BBQ, to fine dining! You certainly won’t leave hungry.
Washington, DC
Spring in Washington, D.C., is magical with the iconic cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Take a stroll along the Tidal Basin, where the pink and white blossoms create a perfect backdrop for photos, or dive into history and culture at the Smithsonian museums (which are all free to explore!).
Foodies will be in heaven in DC, from the city’s amazing food halls like Union Market, to Michelin-starred restaurants, to hole-in-the-wall restaurants, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Spend some time exploring Georgetown’s charming boutiques people watch while you enjoy a coffee from the neighborhood’s cafes.
Whether you’re with friends or family, D.C. is sure to deliver for your spring break dreams!
