Since June 1970, the LGBTQ+ community has come together every June to celebrate their pride and commemorate the efforts of the pioneers of the movement.
Cities across the United States from small towns to sprawling metropolises take part in the festivities hosting parades, concerts, markets, and more. This is a perfect time to explore a new city and immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions. We put together a non-exhaustive list of some of our favorite destinations to visit for Pride to get your ideas rolling for this year.
Chicago, IL
The Windy City is a classic Pride destination with events that span the full month of June, culminating in an incredible two-day festival that includes live music across three stages, local artists and vendors, drag performers, and more. The month closes out with their iconic Pride Parade that traverses four neighborhoods, including Northalsted, which was the first official LGBTQ+ neighborhood in the United States! Assisted by their robust public transit systems, it’s a breeze to get to the festivities, especially if you’re visiting without a vehicle.

Did you know that Denver is celebrating their 50th anniversary of Denver Pride this year? It’s bound to be an incredible experience commemorating the decades of love, joy, and authenticity that flourishes in the city during Pride Month. In addition to the festivities of PrideFest including food vendors, live events, and more, this year will be the first that Denver hosts their Gayborhood Market in Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park! You can purchase from and support around 100 LGBTQ+ businesses, artisans, and entrepreneurs. The weekend kicks off with the Pride 5K and includes Sunday’s massive PrideFest Parade. Head to the Pacific Northwest to celebrate this year!
